Naoto-kun--! I just realized! You need something to change to, right? [ she holds it up to Naoto, shutting one eye as if that would help her measure it against her. it's perfect!! in her opinion. ]

[It takes almost a comical amount of time for Naoto to put two and two together. Bemused, her eyes shift between Rise and the dress. It's true that she doesn't have anything to wear out, but…

Oh. [Then the blush hits like a water balloon exploding in her face.]

Er, Rise-san… are you certain that will even fit?

[The logical conclusion is that she's going to have to try it on, yeah. Also kiiiind of embarrassing that it has to be one of Rise's older dresses for there to be a chance it'll fit – but hey, Naoto can't help being her small self.]

That's the million-yen question, isn't it? Not to worry, I can do a bit of tailoring on the fly. [ she nods at a small array of sewing supplies on the desk. ] I have someone do my outfits for me, but I'm pretty good at quick adjustments, too.

Besides...

[ side-eyein' Naoto. with her seated, Naoto's measurements are riiight at eye-level. ] If anything, the top will be too tight for you. [ nice, tho. ]

[Right, the one place where she isn't so small. God works in mysterious ways. But yeah she is going to try very, very hard to be a chill adult concerning this subject. Ganbatte.

Naoto gives the ceiling a brief glance then holds out her hand, somewhat reminiscent of a nervous student prepared to receive an F paper.]

Strip. [ BEAMS AT innocently while she starts undoing the lacy back of the dress's bodice. time to lace a bodyguard up. ]

[Naoto slowly lowers her outstretched hand. It's come to this already, has it. Fine. Fine! She's totally fine with doing this. They're just trying on some clothes, no big.

Anyway, she's gonna need to borrow one or two of Rise's hangers for this, because while her work clothes aren't super expensive or anything, she still doesn't want to just chuck them on the floor. She undoes her tie first, then slips off her jacket. Undershirt and pants follow until she's chilling there in her dark, plain-ish underwear. Then the hand raises again to accept the dress.]

I would not do this for anyone else. [True fact.]

well, they wouldn't get far since she's pretty sure Naoto isn't into this biz, but she's definitely gorgeous enough to participate. in Rise's opinion, anyway. maybe she could be a model. Rise practically wants to take a pic on her cell right now.

["I would not do this for anyone else" nice Naoto, you know how to pick 'em, way to go. She hurriedly accepts the dress – as in basically rips it right out of Rise's hands – and spins so that she's facing the other direction.

Anyway, yeah, Naoto would remind Rise that there's usually not much point wearing sexy underwear to work, but she doesn't really want sexy underwear to remain as the pervading topic. All of this business is distracting enough that she spends a few seconds too long trying to put the dress on backwards. Dammit, dammit.]

"Picking someone up" will not be my goal, I'm afraid.

But... it could happen? Or maybe being picked up? I mean, I'm gonna be real surprised if nobody at least tries. [ look at her hot amazing cool friend. anyone who wouldn't like to tap that doesn't have their head screwed on straight, and Rise isn't exempt.

... also yeah she does realize that the cell pic is a pretty dick move there. Rise clasps her hands together as she hits on the perfect idea to make it up. ]

[Sure, she could use a little help. Figuring out the right way the dress goes is a good start, at least, and after Naoto steps into it, she shuffles backwards a little so that Rise can assist with the parts she can't see.

I have difficulty sometimes simply conversing with strangers. That I would become intimate with one, based solely on occurrences over a single evening, seems very unlikely. [yo....lo.......]

[ oh, she knows all about showing and hiding and the aesthetics of tantalizing sneak peeks. Rise undoes the first few buttons of her own blouse, teasingly revealing the edge of a scallop-laced slip underneath. she poses with an imaginary drink in her hand. ]

[Naoto has to tilt her head a bit to watch, and once Rise is through, she isn't immediately sure whether she's glad to have beared witness to the demonstration. On one hand, whoa, that definitely was effective. On the other–]

I believe I could practice something like that a thousand times without ever really getting it down. [She looks down for a second and rubs some of the dress's fabric between her fingers.]

…Confidence likely plays a large role in that.

[At worst it's a misdemeanor. Naoto observes herself in the mirror, thinking for a second or two before relenting.]

Project– [Nope. Nope, she's not calling it that.] I wouldn't, ah, wholly object to trying on a few things. There's no harm, really.

Really now! [ ..... she might have to specify 'a few', or Rise might just get carried away with dress-up for the rest of the night. ]

W-well, as an idol, you know I have no shortage of outfits! [ and she immediately starts searching through her rack. ] I mean, like I said before, sizes and bodices might be a problem. But I can handle any small modifications!... Hmm, only 'small' probably isn't the word for it. [ it's not envy, it's just a perfectly platonic thing to notice about her friend. ]

[Mhm. She might have to specify a few other things, too.]

Rise-san… [Naoto blushes in an equally platonic way, then clears her throat.]

Er, perhaps start with items that would be easiest to… modify? If you are, indeed, so very set on doing this. [Is the sky blue, Naoto?]

Mm, I think little adjustments would be best. I mean, I'd hate to work on something, have you put it on, and then have it totally fall apart at the seams or something. [ ..... now that she mentions it, she doesn't exactly look as if she hates the idea at all. wow, what an interesting thought.

Anyway! I think this dress works well on you, but how about a touch of make-up, too?

[The evidence supporting Rise's status as a pervert is quickly building ~~though she isn't wrong that it would be hot~~; Naoto is definitely too flustered to be making any kind of case, though. Why does her heart start beating fast just when they're talking about this stuff??

Naoto clears her throat again.]

Y-Yes, I agree. [She looks down for a second.] As far as makeup is concerned, I would… also need to borrow from you, I'm afraid. That and I'm used to using only the very basics.

That's fine with me. I get the feeling you'd just get store-brand stuff, anyway, and that'd be a crying shame with your great skin. [ beams at! she scoots on over to the counter of her studio, strewn with miscellania--accessories, a few photobooks, small piles of fan letters. but there's also a section for her make-up artists, clusters of bottles, mirrors at varying angles, brushes and clippers and various instruments in various menacing appearances.

Rise perches atop a stool where her lead artist might sit and indicates a seat opposite her, plucking a few choice bottles from the counter and examining them. like a witch inviting a victim into her lair, filled with concoctions. ]

Don't worry, we won't try anything drastic. Your eyebrows look nice already, so I'm thinking light eyeshadow and lipstick and some foundation... that okay with you?

[Naoto smiles back shyly before getting caught up in looking over some of Rise's stuff. There sure is a lot of it, but that probably shouldn't come as a surprise. The work gear Naoto needs appears simple by comparison. All of these things, just so Rise can look her best…

Well, Naoto can see why her friend took some time off from this business. It seems very demanding, and there's a lot of pressure. Naoto is envious of Rise over certain qualities – say, her energy and her easy ability to be friendly/flirt/give compliments/etc. – but it goes without saying that this life wouldn't be for her.

It's still nice to be treated like a lady every now and then, so Naoto obediently follows her lead and takes a seat.]

I leave my fate to you, Rise-san. You have my trust. [A pause.] And I thank you for the kind words.

Aw, Naoto-kun... you don't have to thank me, right? [ in all honesty, she's probably the one imposing and bullying her into a night out, but. she can't quite help it. she snaps her fingers. ] In that case, I'll accept your thanks as long as I can thank you for letting me take you out. [ seeing naoto in nice clothes is the dream. and doing her make-up, and touching her.

she quickly washes her hands and smooths primer on her fingertips, reaching out gently to apply it to naoto's cheeks with a light touch. hmm... her assistants are usually the ones doing it for her, just to make sure everything is picture-perfect for stage and the camera. but it's remarkably intimate, touching someone else like this. she really is the lucky one here. ]

[Rise’s words prompt a good-natured chuckle – or they would have, but Naoto doesn’t want to move her face too much, so she settles for an amused “hm” instead. She knows that it’s good for her to get out; she would never go alone, and Rise is her most social friend by far, so it’s almost like an inevitability.]

Of course. Consider it a deal.

[There’s no doubt that this feels intimate. Naoto isn't used to someone else touching her face, and at first, it practically makes her ticklish. Even if Rise is enjoying herself, Naoto is still of the mindset that her friend is doing her a favor, so she does her best to keep still and make it easier for her. At the same time, she watches the process using the closest mirror, taking mental notes. If they make this a more regular thing, it wouldn’t seem fair for her to have to rely on Rise every time when they’re getting ready.]

If you don’t mind, I’ll take this opportunity to learn from you.

Aw, of course I wouldn't mind~ [ getting to teach naoto something... well, even if it's something like make-up and hardly important to someone like naoto in her field, it's nice. rise's entire career is built on visuals. it might be shallow or it might just be her own personal desire, but it's important to her that naoto looks nice... not that that doesn't come naturally.

she hums as she smooths gel over naoto's cheeks. ] Do you do much make-up? Just the basics? Maybe not if you're out in the field...? [ that said, she's not expecting too much trouble in their little security gig, unless some fan gets really extreme. ] You've got a great face and skin, so you don't even have to do much. But it's nice to glow yourself up a little now and then, especially if you're going out. I think eyeshadow would make you look even more mysterious~

[ primer done, she takes naoto's wrist to dab a few shades of foundation on the back of her hand. ] You can choose the best color by seeing which one blends the best with your palm. Maybe one slightly pinker than your complexion, hmm... [ ... possibly not as pink as her own face, but she's just ridiculously pleased getting to fawn over her friend like this. ]

[Rise definitely doesn't mind, does she. Naoto did mention earlier that she's only worked with the basics, but that's pretty much a lie. It wouldn't be completely accurate to say that, for most of her life, Naoto pretended to be a guy – it wasn't pretending so much as her not going out of her way to correct people when they assumed. Nowadays, she doesn't try to hide her femininity as much, but she doesn't draw attention to it, either.]

I haven't had much opportunity to learn before now, I suppose.

[That's all she'll admit to on that subject. Incidentally, Rise's compliments are making Naoto's face a bit pink, too; they're very kind, especially coming from somebody with Rise's looks. That, and Naoto has always known Rise to be genuine when it comes to expressing her opinion.

Naoto feels like she doesn't have much of an eye for this, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Her eyes flick between her own face in the mirror and the different shades, and she tries the one she thinks best matches Rise's suggestion. She rubs some onto her palm and holds it up next to her cheek for Rise to judge.]

Hmm... [ she leans in a bit closer, only half- under the guise of comparing skin tone, then nods seriously. ] That would work. Anyway, it's foundation. As long as you don't go too crazy, it'll blend or you could take it off later.

You can put it on with brushes or sponges but as long as you wash your hands... [ ah, maybe she just wants to have an excuse to touch naoto's face. she's not in the habit of denying herself. she delicately applies a bit of the shade to naoto's cheeks, forehead, chin, brushes it out to blend with her fingertips, carefully, smoothing it until it looks natural. almost as naturally pretty as naoto always is. ]
